About Straddie

North Stradbroke Island is at the southern end of the chain of large sand islands which run from the Gold Coast to the start of the Great Barrier Reed. Straddie is a unique landform rich in both Aboriginal and European history. The beaches and bush, swamps, lakes and waterholes form a beautiful mix just 40 kms from Brisbane.

There are three towns on the island which all offer different things to different people.

Dunwich is located on the bay side of the island and is the gateway to Straddie and focus of Aboriginal and European history.

Amity Point has access to both Moreton Bay and the Coral Sea and has a long commercial fishing history.

Point Lookout is perched on the rocky headlands on the exposed North Eastern Coast and is the main tourist destination on the island.

Straddie has the ability to relax and refresh holidaymakers with it's natural attractions and family friendly environment. The sound of the sea and birdsong are your alarm clock when you holiday at Grass Trees on Straddie.
